Many of you will have noted the Hornsby portable no.40144 sold at the David Ambler sale last week by Thimbleby & Shorland. Well, after working out who the lucky new owner was, we got an invite for the first start up once they had it home.
One thing that was noticed before sale day was that lot 214, listed as “Jacking Chocks” was in fact the original wheel chocks to go with the Hornsby (lot 7). Despite being pointed out to the auctioneer they were still sold separatley as catalogued. Luckily, the new owner was able to secure lot 7 as well, reuniting them once again.
Lot 7 Jacking Chocks that were almost split from the engine.
With little more than a whip around with an oil can and a strip and clean of the fuel pump the engine thumped back into life.
The business end
