This bank holiday saw the first of what is hoped to be a regular event held in the grounds of Lockey Farm Arborfield. This was a nice small get together with vintage cars, four miniature steam engines including an impressive 9” scale Tasker, stationary engines and vintage tractors. The event is hoped to become a regular event twice a year and to grow towards being a small rally.
The first engine in attendance was a spec A16 Lister A of 1927 which was supplied new to the farm and has stayed ever since, seen exhibited by original owners grandson in-law.
The second in attendance was a Wolseley WD8 which one of the event organisers had exhibited and has enjoyed many rallies with over his 15 yea4s off ownership.
The third engine was an Avon drag saw engine unfortunately with no saw blade.
A pair of lister D’s attended one as a cement mixer set up and the second powering a motorbike. A bit different of a different exhibit to engine and water pump.
The final engine was my Lister A spec A28 of 1945. This was my first event, as a stationary engine exhibitor where there were public in attendance, having only ever exhibited st Petterfest previously last October, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the engines first public outing under my short ownership of 5 months. She ran absolutely faultlessly and hopefully the same will be said for Stoke Row steam rally my next event.
Hope this article is enjoyed my first attempt at such a write up.
