Back In September I was exhibiting my 1909 Walsh & Clark Victoria oil engine at the Malpas Yesteryear Rally in Cheshire. There were well over 100 engines on show and a full report has already appeared on here. One engine display which really caught my eye however was not mentioned in that report, which was a Lister A that was mounted in its original Liner Patent Sand-Lime and concrete mixer. Presumably, this was because the mixer was to be found in the working area in the adjacent field to the main engine section.

The mixer caught my eye as its unusual to see a mixer on the rally field and when you do see one its normally fitted with a Lister D, Petter A1 or similar sized engine. What made this mixer stand out was both its size & the fact it was fitted with a Lister A type. The mixer has been restored to a high standard, but what made the display extra special was that it was actually in use mixing lime mortar at the show.

It’s great to see such an unusual working exhibit, and it is a real credit to its owners and the team at Malpas who put on an excellent show.
