Saturday 19th October saw the start of Petterfest 2024 with people arriving from far and wide, the day was a little chilly but dry and was shaping up nicely for what was going to become a very good weekend.
Somehow we managed to hold off any engine starting until 4.30 ish and that was it, once the first one fired up there was no stopping them and as it got darker the sky was light up with the bulbs of many Petter gen sets (plus others), Tilley lamps and various forms of illumination! With engines running, a fire burning in a barrel for warmth and a “Fish n chip” run done to the local chippy we all had a fantastic night, close to 40 engines/generators running into the night.
Sunday was the main day and it turned out to be even better than hoped, total of 147 engines in the end, from the humble Lister D used by so many to get into this hobby to the impressive horizontal Petter S of David Lacey’s that was absolutely awesome to see. Other engines included were 3 open crank Petter Handyman’s, a very nicer Gardner owned by Richard Sadd, a wide range of M and S types so definitely something for all.
The event is a private event so no members of the public are allowed and to help with the running costs of the event a donation is asked for with extra monies going to EAAA who received £350
