Recently a post was shared on Facebook showing some items for sale on the VEE website and although I do check the site most weeks I didn’t notice the rather nice Petter powered Moorlands pump set so a quick look on the site and checked the photos, email sent to the then owner Mr. Petternut himself and a deal was made, as we were already planning on going to Wellington to the Tarmonkey crank up it seemed too good a deal to pass up!!
After a few emails etc a time was set for us to continue our stay an extra day to allow me to collect the set and bring it back to Petterfest HQ.

It is a high pressure set and is gear driven off of a 1.5hp “Bog Top” (although Petters only listed their engines as “Hopper Cooled” and nothing else) on a common cast iron base.
After the trip back some basic checks were carried out, oil in the pump gearbox changed as that didn’t look too good and after some fresh grease, oil and fuel it was time for a run, pleased to report it fired up straight away and ran really well, I even managed to get it to “stroke nicely by closing the tap on the outlet, something I’ll be looking at at a later stage so I can come up with a more permanent idea on that rather than relying on a tap….

Although it’s not very big it’s a heavy lump!

Will it be at Petterfest this year? You bet!!
