A rather impromptu trip to Kent Saturday morning for the 50th steam rally at Hadlow Down, held on the Tinkers Park site of the Claude Jessop Trust. Some of the engines seen in display belong to the trust, having been saved by C.Jessop and the trust are now restoring and caring for them. The other engines seen were exhibited by members of The Sussex and Kent Weald Stationary Engine Group.
Engines Owned by the Trust:
Large Ruston and Hornsby Gas engine
Ruston and Hornsby AP
Unknown large engine awaiting
My personal favourite, Ruston Hornsby PT with pump, sat in the back of one of the open fronted sheds that hasn’t been restored yet and probably hasn’t moved for the last 59 years since the rally began. It doesn’t get more barn fresh than this.
All other engines seen came from the Club mentioned above and had a lovely conversation with Alan their Chairman.
Alongside the stationary engines was an impressive 50 full size steam engines ranging from Burrell Gold Medal Tractors to Sentinel Steam Waggons.
Please note the emblem is not mine it was taken from the Claude Jessop trust Facebook page as it is owned by them
