The weekend of the 18th and 19th October was the glorious Petterfest and boy what a weekend it was! We arrived on site Thursday to start setting up and getting ready and we already had one person camped in the corner, Friday saw loads of people turning up from miles away with a good selection of “stuff”.
As normal, it wasn’t long before we had some engines running on the Friday with people keen to get some noise and fumes out before the big day but the bulk didn’t turn up until later in the day.
Saturday dawned to good weather and it wasn’t long before we had a site full of all sorts of Petters, the relatively “new” AA1 were there with a couple of those, the humble A1, W1H, W1T and even a W2T and A2 twin both running well and that’s before getting on to the vast numbers of M types from the little Peartop to the very impressive Petter VST24 twin, as well as the 18/21 S.

Handyman engines were well represented with 9 open crank engines on display including a very nice pump set that was absolutely superb but unfortunately, I missed seeing it running, maybe someone has a video of it?

Saturday night, well that’s when it all happened!! The sun set and the whole site just lit up! Reports from people passing by said the glow was visible all down the road and the smell of paraffin mixed with hot oil was fantastic, in total we had 191 engines on site Saturday night and 190 paraffin lamps burning, truly a wonderful sight!
Tom Ellis had an absolutely superb Petter 5hp Peterlight set that sounded amazing and would burn your eyes with the amount of light it was producing, he must have used gallons of fuel over the weekend….

Enough of my blither, have a look at the photos as a picture speaks a thousand words……
