Saturday 10th January 2026 was the NVTEC crank up at Fendicks Fisheries, somewhere I’d not been to before so decided to go see what was happening, nice to get out of the house and fill the air with hydrocarbons if I’m honest. Very impressed, it was -2 when we arrived and felt like it! Wrapped up warm, thick coat and hat at the ready and unloaded, took the Fairbanks hit n miss for a trial just to see how it went, badly! Poxy pig iron played up most of the day if I’m honest but there you go, how it is sometimes.

Callum Tracey was beside me with his recent purchase of a Petter Victory of 1921 vintage and Ruston pump that ran very well all day
.
Beside him was Paul Goldsmith and his Lister H which was done as a gen set. Had a small issue with a water leak but a bit of PTFE soon cured that (handy being a plumber!!)

The Norfolk Mancave had his “Petter” gen set there, unusual as there is nothing Petter about it, good bit of badge engineering there…..

Several of the common engines, a good mix of Listers and Wolseley with a few Rustons mixed in for good measure, the usual mix of Petters from a lovely EK mag 5hp Appletop to the not so rare A1, International LA was another unusual one although not really rare it’s not an engine often seen.

One that I did notice was a petrol/paraffin Bamford EG1, I know they did them, but I can’t remember seeing that many out and about….

Good, but cold day, weather wasn’t too bad and stayed dry so that was a win. Looking forward to the next outing now I’ve had a taste of what’s to come this year…..
